The Dahmer victims families tried to sue me 2 years ago and they could not get a court to take the case.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">This is the most disturbing thing I've read in this whole thread.

Court date or not, all I can think about is the additionial grief that you're causing for these families.

Baimun, I understand your point and agree with you to a certain extent... while I'm not going to buy the Columbine figures, I wouldn't stand in the way of someboy who would, though.

People like what they like, and they're gonna buy it, regardless if it's an album with explicit lyrics or an action figure based on a serial killer... it's their business, and isn't any of my concern.

Someone who argues that the figures shouldn't be for sale (for whatever reason) and would want that right taken away from interested collectors is, in my opinion, no better than the religious groups that try to shut McFarlane Toys down.

I just got this from jon.

    spectre_I,

I am going to have to delete the thread on the TOYS board regarding your "Trenchcoat Mafia" sculpts. Nothing personal (strictly business), but I have been receiving a number of complaints about the thread. While we make our fair share of offensive action figures, there is a difference between someone coming to our site and being turned off by something we have created and and someone coming to the site and being turned off by something that is not associated with McFarlane Toys (I hope you can understand that).

    -Jon

I didnt start the thread and hardly posted in it.

anyone remember what all was said? buncha mudslingin I would imagine.

i understand that spectre makes his living by pushing the envelope, and have no problem with it. large corperations do worse things every day for profit. we all have our feelings and opinions...

I only have a problem with the killer themselves benefiting financially from their crimes or the fame/infamy their crimes brings them.....

3rd parties making money from the actions of murderers is hardly new...some of it seems acceptable (such as books written about murderers, rapists, serial killers etc which definitely pull in much more gross revenue than Spectre ever could) books films and such can be construed as somewhat educational but deep down they generally play off the public's interest in this subject matter....other things seem like nothing more than exploitation like playing cards or action figures....
But aside from the aforementioned I believe people should be free in the US to produce these materials and even profit from them if they wish......even if it causes the families distress and is in bad taste

I'm a fan of spectre's. I think a lot of people are fascinated by psychos and serial killers. I think this one was just a little too soon after the murders.

this is no different than the Discovery channel making money off of a documentary about Colombine....except they would show dead victims most likely.

    Exclamation

I find this and the whole of Monsters 3 offensive. Just because no one has claimed to have had a great gran father that was shot by billy the kid, or an ancestor that was chopped up by Jack, it doesn't mean that the Monsters 3 should be acceptable over trenchcoat mafia.
All of them have murdered people, and regardless the time and age it is rather blunt and a bad representation of us by making them into plastic icons!
